Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy applies to Tagger: Document Organizer for Android, package ct.tagger. “Tagger,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer of this app. You can contact us about privacy at [email protected].

This policy describes information handled by the app and information you choose to provide when contacting us. Independent services you use with Tagger, including Google Play, your camera app, and a file or cloud storage provider, also have their own privacy policies.

2. Your documents and app settings

Tagger stores private copies of the PDFs and images you import or photograph in the app’s storage on your device. It also stores document names, file details, custom tags, notes, favorites, document types, expiry dates, reminder settings, recognized text, and preferences such as your app language.

This information enables document viewing, organization, search, reminders, and backup or restore. Imported files can contain personal information and embedded metadata; Tagger does not require you to include any particular personal information.

We do not operate a server that receives or stores your document library. Tagger does not automatically upload your documents, photographs, notes, tags, or recognized text to us, and it does not provide automatic cloud synchronization.

3. Text recognition and Google ML Kit

Tagger uses Google ML Kit to recognize text in documents and images so you can search their contents. This recognition runs on your device. According to Google, ML Kit does not send the input images or text, or the resulting recognition output, to Google’s servers.

The ML Kit SDK does collect and send technical data to Google for diagnostics and usage analytics. This includes device model and operating system information, app package and version, an installation identifier, performance measurements, API settings such as image format and resolution, input and output sizes, feature events, and error codes. Google uses these metrics to operate, troubleshoot, maintain, improve, and protect its APIs. Google documents HTTPS encryption for this transmission.

4. Google Play purchases

Lifetime Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Google Play. Google handles your Google account, payment method, and payment processing. Tagger does not receive your full payment card number, bank credentials, or Google account password.

The app receives purchase information from Google Play, including the product identifier, purchase token, purchase status, and signed purchase record. It uses this information to verify and acknowledge purchases, unlock Pro, restore access, and check whether a purchase is still owned. A signed purchase record is stored locally to support access while offline. Purchase verification and restoration communicate with Google Play.

Google may make transaction and app-quality information available to us through Play Console, which we use to administer purchases, support users, and investigate reliability issues. Google handles its payment and platform records under the Google Privacy Policy.

5. Backups, sharing, and other apps

Pro users can export a full-library backup and restore one they select. A backup contains the documents and their library information, including tags, notes, reminders, and recognized text. You choose where to save or open it using Android’s file picker. If you select a cloud storage provider, that provider receives the file under its own terms and privacy policy.

When you share a document or open it in another app, the selected app or recipient can access that file. Tagger does not control how they subsequently handle it. The original files outside Tagger remain separate from its private copies.

6. Device access and permissions

• Files: Android’s system picker grants access to the documents or destinations you select. Tagger does not request unrestricted access to your device’s storage.
• Camera: Taking a photo opens your installed camera app and gives it temporary access to a capture file. Tagger imports the confirmed photo. The camera app manages its own camera permissions and privacy practices.
• Notifications: With your permission where required, Tagger displays document reminders. You can disable notifications in Android settings.
• Network and billing: These support Google Play purchases and communication by the Google SDKs described above. Document reading, organization, and bundled text recognition can work offline.

Tagger does not request access to your contacts, microphone, or device location. A file you choose to import may nevertheless already contain location or other metadata.

7. Support messages and disclosures

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond to your request, troubleshoot issues, and handle privacy inquiries. Please send only the information necessary for your request; you do not need to send your document library for routine support.

We do not sell personal information or use your documents for advertising. Information you send to support is handled through the email services needed to receive and reply to your message. We may disclose information we hold when required by applicable law, or as necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or legal claims.

Google and any email or storage provider you choose may process information in countries other than your own, according to their privacy practices. This does not mean Tagger automatically uploads your local document library.

8. Retention and deletion

• Local library: Your library remains on your device until you remove documents or clear the app’s data. Use the document’s delete action to remove it from the library. To remove all locally stored app data, use Android’s clear-storage option or uninstall Tagger.
• Temporary files: Temporary camera and backup files are normally removed when the relevant operation finishes or is cancelled. Abandoned camera captures older than seven days are cleaned up when you next start a camera capture.
• Exported copies: Deleting a document or uninstalling Tagger does not delete originals, exported backups, or copies held by other apps, recipients, or cloud providers. Delete those separately where they are stored.
• Purchases: Clearing app data removes the local purchase record but does not cancel your purchase or erase Google’s transaction records. Eligible purchases can be restored through Google Play.
• Support: We retain correspondence only as needed to address your request, resolve related issues, and meet applicable legal obligations. You can request deletion by email. Google’s retention of SDK and transaction data is governed by its own policies.

We cannot remotely retrieve or delete a library that exists only on your device.

9. Keeping information secure

Tagger relies on Android’s app sandbox and device security to restrict access to private app files. It does not add a separate app lock or its own encryption layer for documents or exported backups. Use a device screen lock, keep Android up to date, and protect any storage location you use for backups.

No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Files you export or share leave Tagger’s private storage and are subject to the protections of the destination you select.

10. Your choices and privacy rights

You control the files you import, the information you enter, and whether to share or back up your library. You can edit or delete local content, manage notification permissions, and stop using the app. No Tagger account is required or created.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to raise a concern with a data protection authority. Contact [email protected] to make a request. We may ask for limited information needed to verify that the request concerns you.

For information held independently by Google or another provider, use that provider’s privacy controls or contact them directly.

11. Children’s privacy

Tagger does not ask users to provide their age or create an account. We do not knowingly solicit children’s personal information through our support channel. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and address the request, including deletion where appropriate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app’s features, data practices, or applicable requirements change. The updated policy will show a new “last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent for material changes.
